This is what I know...my port is scheduled to be put in Monday morning, February 18th. It should be a simple procedure but last time it was not...so I ask prayer that all goes well...Thank you!
Chemo treatments are scheduled to begin Wednesday the 20th...I will have 2 chemo meds by way of IV's with a sitting time of 5 hours. I plan to take my phone, tablet, and magazines for "company" if my husband has other things to do...I can't imagine sitting there for 5 hours if you don't have to. I have my tablet all set up with Netflix and other things to watch. Spotify has a new playlist...or Pandora. I can text friends and relatives also...or who knows I may find someone to gab with for a bit while I sit.
I told the chemo nurse I would prefer to have my treatments on Monday. She said we could still start Wednesday and then skip the nearest Monday and start on the following Monday. So, this is what I know for treatments...I will get the 2 med treatment one week and the following week the 1 med treatment (for 2 hours) then I will be off for two weeks...then back on that routine. This, from what I understand, will take place a total of 3 times...so 3 months of so.
I will likely lose my hair after the 2nd round of the 2 med treatment. I am praying for minimal issues (please pray with me on that). I am also praying that this time I have more energy and comprehension (feel free to pray with me on that also).
After the 6 treatments, I will have another PET scan to see any progress...shrinkage of the masses and/or cancer clearing from the lymph nodes. My prayer is that this heals up and the cancer is gone.
I realize this is a more "technical" blog post...not really any emotions (grins) but sometimes I just have to deal with the business side (smiles).
This is real now. Everything begins next week! I have been praying since I found out I had spots on my upper right lung. As I have said, I am thankful they are only there and in some lymph nodes (which isn't too spiffy so pray them out).
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement!
